The future of firestopping relies on approved contractors

Fire protection and the whole system, including the people working within it, and how the various parts interact to deliver outcomes on the ground are important for the future of the installation and industry, below are some of the key factures to considerate when choosing your installer for fire protection.

  • Responsibilities
  • Design
  • Specification
  • Manufacture
  • Test results and systems
  • Certification

These systems help map the fundamental to understanding where the current weaknesses are and in providing the basis for developing a simpler and more effective framework for the future.

FIRAS Installer certification scheme

Warringtonfire operates UKAS accredited certification schemes for companies involved in its installation, ATOL construction follows these and are proud members of the accreditation.

Warringtonfire’s FIRAS scheme for installers has been instrumental in improving the installation and maintenance standards of passive and active fire protection products and systems, keeping the processes and installation professional.

FIRAS is the mark of endorsement of competency in the installation of products and systems, vital for achieving the protection required.

Why choose a FIRAS certified installation contractor?

FIRAS certified contractors are required to undergo a three-stage assessment process, and only when the applicant contractor has satisfied all of these criteria is a certification granted:

Assessment of office management systems

Assessment of workmanship of site for all trade disciplines for which certification is sought

Competence assessment of supervisory and installation employees

The FIRAS Register

Each FIRAS Certificated company is required to continue to demonstrate compliance with industry standards and material/product manufacturer installation instructions in order to assure clients that the fire protection installed by them is correct to specification and will afford the required fire protection.
